2nd Progress Post (Bajidor Kahot Headdress ala Joanne)

Hai hai!

As written on the title this post will be about the process of making Bajidor Kahot headdress! This headdress is inspired by the headdress of Legong Keraton from Bali. If you see the headdress in a glance it will seem intricate. But actually not at all! With the guidance from my expert which is Ibu Happy Widyawati from my sanggar costume section I made this headdress in the simplest way possible. Using Foam Art!

Materials that you will need:
(Pictures on the materials will be posted soon)
  • Yellow Foam Art (1 Pack)
  • Glue gun (1 unit)
  • Glue gun refill (1 unit)
  • Gold glitter (2 tiny plastic pouches)
  • Gold flower manik-manik  (1 plastic bag, like a ton if it)
  • Plastic red roses (2 Units)
  • Gold ribbon (1 roll)
  • Pink rhinestones (3 Unit, up to you actually)
  • Scissors (1 Unit)

Process:

  1. Use the ruler to approximate the height of the headdress. The draw the design template on the foam art sheet.
  2. Cut the design using scissors.
  3. Decide which part to be covered with glitter. Then use UHU to cover those parts pouring glitter on top of the glue. (This part is complicated and needs some getting use to. Finding out which technique that can spread the glitter evenly)
  4. Next use the glue gun to stick manik-manik on the designated area. Do not sprinkle the manik-manik but lay it out evenly because it looks way nicer.
  5. Now add manik-manik or glitter on the areas that are empty or untidy.
  6. After that stick the rhinestones using glue gun on the desginated spots.
  7. Now make hole on the sides of the headdress to put in the ribbons. These ribbons are going to be the thing that secures the headdress on your head.
  8. The last step is to stick plastic red flowers on the sides of the headdress.
  9. Thats it! You're done!
