I
wake up to the sun streaming into my eyes and the rooster crowing its daily
hymn. Cock-a-doodle- doo, cock-a-doodle-doo. I sit up on my bed lazily, not
wanting to start another day. My warm bed asking me to lay back down and doze
off for another hour. I am going lay back but then I hear my mommy shouting in
the middle of my hazy morning mood.
“Aaron,
come down son, breakfast is ready! It’s your favorite blue waffles for today!” Oooo, waffles! The smell of that fluffy
blue goodness struck my nose. The sweet, sweet scent of soft syrup goes through
my mind. Instructing my brain to go down immediately. I run downstairs
attacking each step of the stairs I take, eager to devour ten plates of my
favorite waffles. Mommy said blue waffles can make me strong and grow taller. I
want to be like my dad. He’s really tall; he brought me a stone from the moon
the other day. Dad’s not home for breakfast right now, maybe he’s back at his
office, catching the stars.
“Mommy,
may I go outside to play with Trucky and Miranda ?” Mommy looks at me attentively. Examining the
gold mess on top of my head. Tousled gold locks that seem to disturb my mom.
She tidies it up a little and smiles. “Of course dear, you may. Just remember
to be back before lunch”. I smile back.
Straight
after breakfast I take the red fire truck mommy gave me on my 8th
birthday last year. I call it Trucky, he’s my best-best friend. Besides of
Trucky my other best friend is Miranda. She’s my neighbor, my favorite
one. I can’t wait to meet her! I dash
outside and call her through the fence.
“Mirandaaaa, Mirandaaa! Come on let’s go and play! The
sun is up!”
“Wait! Let me get Rosie first!”, Miranda said.
“Okay! I’ll wait for you, don’t forget to open the
gate for me!”, I replied.
“Sure!”
Rosie
is Miranda’s doll no one knows where she got it. Exactly a month ago today,
Miranda disappeared. I was very sad; Miranda’s parents called the police and
reported a possible kidnapping. But she just popped back three days later in
her backyard, hugging Rosie with a big smile on her face. No one knows what
happened, where did she went or the person who took her. It is kind of weird I
admit.
Suddenly
a loud voice interrupts my thoughts. Miranda is waving her hand in front of my
face while shouting my name, trying to get my attention.
“Aaron, Aaaaaroooooonnnn, AAAROOOOON!”
“Uh, uh yeah? What?”
“Mommy said I should finish my breakfast first, why
don’t you go to the backyard first and I’ll catch up with you.”
“ Okay sure..”
Miranda
is still holding Rosie as she walks back inside her house. Rosie is very
pretty, with those bouncy ringlets of hair perfectly decorated with a red bow.
Her eyes are very unique, a deep set of purple. She is wearing one of those
princess gowns, red, with sparkly rubies sprinkled on the puffy skirt.
As
I walk into Miranda’s backyard, the first thing that I see is this very big
bush of red roses. Usually I just walk pass it, but today it’s scent is very
captivating. I can’t help but wanting to smell just one of it’s flawless bloom.
I take a step closer to the rose bush, inhaling the beautiful scent of
sweet-sweet raindrops. I close my eyes as the smell overpowers me.
When I open my eyes, I am not in Miranda’s backyard
anymore; I don’t know where I am. All around me is the scent of roses and a lot
of other kids playing. This place is so bright! Suddenly, someone pokes my
shoulder and said. “Come with me little boy, I will give you a gift of your
choosing”. I follow him not knowing where we are going.
