Reflection on the Argumentative Essay and Debate Assessment \(^_^)/

During this unit, we get two different tasks to complete and submit. In which the scores are going to be used as the final assessment score for this unit. The first task is to make an argumentative essay based on the topic that we brainstormed. The second task is to do a debate on arguing whether globalization will lead to a better future or not.

Okay, so first I reflect on the first task that I completed. The task is to make an argumentative essay. We were given around 5 week to perfect the essay. I chose to make an essay about Child Labor because it is one of the most interesting topic for me. We studied about it in humanities class last year. First, I chose a topic. It was quite hard since none of the topic is exactly something that I am passionate about. But finally I chose the child labor one after changing topics around two times. Then I started making the thesis statement, I should research first beforehand because the child labor have a lot of factors that is very important. After forming my thesis statement, i send it to Miss H and she changed it slightly which I am very thankful about. I chose format B because I think it is the format that suits me best. I manage to complete my essay on time although I must admit I wasted a lot of time during class to research and redoing the paragraphs because I did not like it.

Maybe next time if I should make an essay again which I am very sure that i will make another one, I will not waste the time to research for too long but instead i should learn to perfect the essay. Another thing that I need to improve is my grammar which is very messy and also I should learn to make the essay more straightforward.

Now, the second assessment is debating, which is very fun, I guess.  I honestly kind of enjoyed the preparation part. I get the opposition group, disagreeing that globalization leads to a brighter future. My teammates were Vania, Sherissa, Atta and my self. We divided our jobs and did it together in the same file using google docs. We manage to finish everything very fast and we came up with very strong arguments. But on the d-day we all forgot to print our arguments. Only Vania did. I know right, ouch. At the end we kind of hand write everything on a piece of paper.

I think during my future debates I really need to be more careful, therefore not the same "tragedy" will happen all over again. I should really print the arguments the night before or maybe just print it immediately by the time I went home.
