During our LB lesson we watched the movie War Horse. The really good. We finished the whole movie last week. And here is the summary of the movie that I watched.
The movie started with a scene of Joey's birth. Joey is a colt bought by Albie's father, Ted Narracott, for 30 guineas. Albie loves Joey, he tamed him and train him to be a very good horse. Joey can plow but Albie can also ride him. The first problem occurs when Albie's dad need to pay rent to the landlord, Mr Lyons and his son David. But the money for rent was used to purchase Joey in an auction. So in order to pay the rent Albie and Joey plows a rocky field so they can sell the harvest, turnips, and pay the rent. The mom Rosie is very concerned, but she is willing to help and afterwards she took care of the bleeding Albie and Joey. In the barn Rosie explained about Ted's past life and why he drinks and limps. She gave Albie a sash from his dad's boer war. By the way in this part of the movie the Goose, Harold popped out in some parts of the scene. He gave a little touch of humor to the movie.
Sadly one day war broke between Germany and Hungary, the harvest fails and Ted Narracott is desperate for money. In the auction Joey met Topthorn, Major Jamie Stewart's horse. Ted sold Joey to captain Nicholls that is looking for a horse to ride during a war. The captain promised to return Joey back if he can. Albie gave a sash to Joey so he can identify him. Captain Nicholls died in the war, leaving a parcel for Albie. A sketch of Joey.
Joey was caught by the enemy's army. He was kept and used to pull the hospital carriage. The two boys that took care of him was Gunther and Michael. Michael was only 14 when he was forced to go to war. So Gunther, his older brother that promised his mom to keep Michael safe kidnapped Michael with two horses during his trip to the war. They hid in a windmill owned by Emilie and Grand pere. But Michael and Gunther ends up getting shot when they was caught running away and died.
Soon, Emilie discovered the two horses in her windmill. She took care of them and called them Francois and Claude. Emilie has a disease which makes her bones rigid. She is also an orphan living with her grandpa because her parents died in a war. In this chapter of the movie Emilie's and her grandpa's farm was rummaged by the army and all their harvest was stolen.
One day when Emilie was riding the horse up a hill, an army was expecting her on the other side of the hill and took both of her horses away. Joey and Topthorn was then taken to Heiglmann the man that takes care of the horses during war. He really loves Joey and Topthorn. One important event that happened was when Joey replaced Topthorn's place pulling the artillery because Topthorn's leg was hurt.
On the other side of the war 4 years have passed and how Albie is already old enough to join war. He is taking part in the trench war fighting side by side with Andrew. He helped David when he was shot and took him to a safe place. By the time Albie successfully passed through the no man's land and get to the other side a gas bomb was thrown and Andrew died whilst Albie hurt his eyes and sent to the "hospital".
Meanwhile, Joey and Topthorn is getting tired pulling the artillery though the war. Topthorn became really tired so Heiglmann let him go for a second. But it turns out that he cant take it anymore. He lay down on the ground while Joey was staying by his side. But Heiglmann must go. Finally a tank crushed Topthorn and Joey ran away.
He ran all across the battle arena. Jumping over tanks, trenches and eventually got caught in a barbed wire. Collin and Peter helped him out of it and flipped a coin to find out who gets to keep him.
At last Joey went to the "hospital" he almost got shot but Albie was there blindfolded. He tried whistling turns out Joey still remember. Albie describe Joey as having 4 socks and a mark on his forehead but is covered in mud. Because of that the doctor agrees to nurse him back to health.
By then the war ended, all the horses should be sold to auction. All the army collected money to buy Joey back. But they lose in the auction against Grand pere. He bought him for 1000 Guineas. At the end Joey doesn't want to leave Albie and Grand pere decided to return Joey to Albie because Emilie is already dead. At the ending Rosie, Ted, Albie and Joey is all back together at the farm living happily ever after...
